Annual Championship Results

Well done to all who attended this year’s Annual championship. Hopefully all those who competed enjoyed their day. A very big thank you to all who gave up their Sunday, to help with the refereeing and administration. Without your kindness, the competition could not go ahead, so thank you. A special thank you to Sensei Paul Shephard who secured a grant from London Borough of Enfield to assist with the cost of the championship. So thank you also London Borough of Enfield.

Annual Championship - change of venue

The sports hall at Lea Valley High School is still being refurbished. So the new date for your diary is Sunday 16th November and the new venue will be Southbury Leisure Centre Enfield. The venue starts at 1030 hours and should end by 1830.

Please try to get as many people as possible to attend, to make it a good competition. The children's events are first, followed by the adult's.

This year the children's individual events are separated into categories of grade and not height. Except for the team kumite, they will be doing their grading kumite and not the usual competition freestyle.

Gasshuku 2003 - Latest (12-09-2003)

A summer camp has been arranged for the weekend 19-21st September. It will take place at a campsite in the middle of Thetford Forest. The campsite has a swimming pool, pub, shop and showers etc, the local village has a chip shop and a Chinese, and the local town as numerous facilities.

All will arrive Friday evening; training will be on Saturday morning, first thing, then again after breakfast, then again in the afternoon. Sunday morning will see training first thing then a 2½ hour adventure at lunch time, to Go Ape - Ariel trekking, including Tarzan swings rope bridges etc

The cost of training and the campsite is now £35 pp but the adventure is an additional £15 pp. (Places at Go Ape are limited so ensure you book early. A few places are still available)

If you have a bike and can bring it please do so, although these can be hired, as Sensei will also be taking those who want to, to one of the National courses nearby.

Wednesdays 7-8pm (children) Sensei Barbara Atkins

Wednesdays 8-9.30pm Sensei's Shearer and Shephard teaching alternate weeks

Please note above that the previously proposed Thursday schedule has been cancelled. In addition, the Kingsmead Dojo will be closed on August 4, 6, 11 and 13. Enfield Grammar Lower School, Baker St. Enfield will be the alternate venue for the aforementioned dates.

Important news regarding Enfield Dojos

As regular members of Sensei Shearer's club are aware, the dojo has been closed due to external circumstances. For the rest of the summer Sensei Shearer's club will combine with Sensei Shephard's Enfield Town dojo. Sensei Shearer will be teaching on Monday's and Sensei Shephard on Wednesday, except for August 4th when there is a tai chi course held. More news as and when I receive them. Instructor Biographies

The long awaited update to the instructor biographies has finally reached the website. There are still one or two Instructor biographies outstanding and those people have been notified that I am unwilling to put the biographies on here until I receive photos. After all, I’m sure photo’s are a good reason as any to come visit us. But the biographies I have received are informative and have been well written and, like the others already here, always worth a read. Thanks to Mr. Andrew Specterman for sending me the bios and the photos.

Please note that Sensei Shearer's Enfield Dojo at Lea Valley School will be closed for now. Further details as and when I get them.

Anyway, enough talk. I apologise for the fact that I cannot be training for now. I hope my situation will change soon but with this sort of thing you never can tell. You’ll all just have to train twice as hard for me.

New Look Website

Welcome to the new look website. I felt that it was time and I hope you like it. If you have any feedback or comments please send them to the address on the guestbook page. I know I still haven't got a proper guestbook running yet. Sensei Peter Edwards and myself are currently working on a report of the 2003 Annual Course. Watch this space. Meanwhile feel free to have a browse around at your leisure. Note that I've split some sections into several pages where necessary. Just click on the previous or next links in the top/bottom corners to navigate the pages. Please inform me by email for any errors and I will see they get fixed. I've worked on this new look alone so the hardest thing for me is to spot my own mistakes.

Take care and train hard!

JSK 2003 Annual Course Photos

The pictures I taken on the course need some serious work on them as I didn't realise the lighting for photography was a bit poor/orange in the hall. I will work on fixing these photos in due course. In the meantime if anyone does have any pictures of the course please send them to me.

I intend on developing a "Vocab" section of the website in order to quell any discrepancies and help aid understanding of some of the Japanese commands. I feel that this aspect of Karate is as important as any. I appreciate the fact that certain dojo links pages e.g. Enfield Town have included a well thought out Japanese vocabulary index.

Annual Course Sunday 8th June 2003

Just a quick note to remind you all about the annual summer course this year is to be held at Greenwood Park Leisure Centre, Chiswell Green, St. Albans. For your convenience I have decided to include an online map of the location. Click here for the sports centre's location on Streetmap.co.uk. Hope its useful. Don't forget you can zoom out to get a better of view of the location. Nearest Junction from the M25 is Junction 21A. Those who go to Watford's Saturday lesson will know its the same turning. Just go north instead of south as you come off the M25.

Junk Email Notice

Due to the stupidly large amount of junk e-mail I am receiving of late I am in the process of changing the website's contact email address. I find that most e-mails seem to be directed towards the marketing of Viagra - as well as enlargements for certain body parts. I have not heard or seen any evidence that training in Karate gives rise to some of decrease in sex-drive or sterility. Apparently,  in some cases, certain unfortunate - painful - incidents have given rise to an increase in fertility!

In any case I am in consultation with associates to remedy the situation. I'll keep you posted here for any noticeable changes over the coming weeks..

Ticky Donovan Course 14th April 2003

Sensei Ticky Donovan OBE was the special guest instructor at Sensei Shephard's Dojo Kings Mead School. Sensei Donovan took us through various useful freestyle combinations and we paired off frequently to practice them. The course was enjoyed by all and we all thank Sensei Ticky Donovan for attending.

Sensei Enoeda

All of Jin Sei Kai are saddened to hear of the death of Sensei Keinosuke Enoeda who died on the 29th of March 2003. We send our deepest sympathies to his family and the K.U.G.B. Please visit www.kugb.org for further details.

Stamina Session 25th January 2003

Sensei Shephard sent this photo in of all who trained at the stamina session. Click on the thumbnail to view a larger version.

After pushing everyone not to miss the stamina session, unfortunately I missed it myself due to being very ill. I rarely miss a stamina or freestyle session but sickness got the better of me. However, it is also worth noting that if you are too ill to train, a stamina lesson is the last thing you want to be doing as your body could end up in a far worse state. Ultimately, we are all training for our health and that comes first.

Slammer Worm Internet Virus hits JinSeiKai Website

Apologies to all for the site being down for nearly three weeks now but unfortunately it was out of my hands. Many ISPs were struck with the nasty virus. And it has only been this weekend just gone where I could get access to the site.
